Day-by-Day Expedition Itinerary
Nairobi to Samburu
Your adventure begins as you leave Nairobi and journey north to Samburu National Reserve. Along the way, enjoy changing scenery and glimpses of everyday Kenyan life. Upon arrival, settle in before heading out for an afternoon game drive. Samburu is home to elephants, lions, leopards, and unique species such as Grevy’s zebras and reticulated giraffes. Return to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
Full Day Samburu
Spend the day exploring Samburu’s rugged beauty. With morning and afternoon game drives, you will have ample opportunity to spot elephants, lions, and the Samburu Special Five. Between drives, relax at your lodge and soak in the atmosphere of the wild.
Samburu to Ol Pejeta Conservancy
After breakfast, drive south to Ol Pejeta, a leading wildlife conservancy. Visit the rhino sanctuary and learn about its conservation efforts, then enjoy a game drive where you may encounter rhinos, chimps, lions, and more. Overnight at a lodge inside or near the conservancy.
Ol Pejeta to Lake Nakuru
Continue to Lake Nakuru, famous for its flocks of flamingos and its rhino population. In the afternoon, take a game drive around the lake and spot pelicans, giraffes, buffalo, and possibly even leopards. Overnight near the park.
Lake Nakuru to Masai Mara
After breakfast, depart for the legendary Masai Mara. Arrive by lunchtime and settle into your lodge. In the afternoon, set off on your first thrilling game drive across the Mara’s golden plains, where lions, cheetahs, elephants, and wildebeest roam.
Full Day Masai Mara
A full day dedicated to exploring the wonders of the Masai Mara. With morning and afternoon game drives, maximize your chances of seeing the Big Five and other incredible wildlife. Picnic in the reserve and optionally visit a Maasai village for an immersive cultural experience.
Masai Mara to Nairobi
Enjoy one final sunrise game drive before departing for Nairobi. On the way, reflect on the incredible landscapes and wildlife you have encountered. Arrive in the afternoon, marking the end of your unforgettable journey.
